About the blog

Somewhere during my university studies in physics, I assumed that knowing some physics, having some skill in building stuff and having a strong interest in music was sufficient for starting to build guitar effects. That assumption turned out to be somewhat false. I turned out to be a learning-by-failing process that started me on a journey into audio electronics. That journey still goes on, and the purpose of this blog is to send a few postcards along the way.

This means I’m not professional and the stuff that I write here is not words from the wise but rather a way of me learning and hopefully also interacting with others who travel down the same road, the road to cool sounds.

  1. Hi, we are a group of readers that really enjoy reading your thought about the relation between electricity, physics, creativity and music, and stuff like that. best wishes, mum, dad, rab @ drumsö.

  2. could ypu please leave a more detailed instructions of Rocktron big crush true bypass mod, i saw the instructions but with that diagram i cant follow and do it to be honest, with the pictures i almost can do it but i cant see where the green and red wires are connected to, please sir help me out because i bought one Rocktron big crush it is amazing when its on but when is on by pass it is simply horrible because as you said it cuts most of the frequencies of the guitar, please just show me a picture of the connections of the green and red wires, tx so much, my YouTube channel is guitargamery if you think that will be easier to contact me, tx so much

  3. just one more question what do you mean by “The led switching circuit was placed right next to the switch using double sided mounting tape” do i need any extra things like double sided mounting tape? or anything else? just asking so i can buy, tx in advance

    • The small circuit board that holds the extra components added was glued to the shell of the pedal using double sided mounting tape. You could of course use glue or just any tape. I chose 3M double sided tape because it’s suitably flexible and sticks well to most materials but still comes off when needed to.

  4. the original blue led will be disabled and substitute by another one(thats why that little new circuit next to the switch) am i right? please friend give me just a little help here, i already bought 5 blue leds(3-12v) from ebay and came together with 5 resistors, and… i will need to make a little hole for the led right? please friend help me here, sorry for being annoying, but i really want to finish this, cheers man

    • My circuit actually uses the old led. You could add a new led if you want to, but that will include some drilling, yes,

  5. finally …lol (i believe that this point you dont stand me) well i will give a try: could you pleaaase tel me with more detail the led circuit( i am using the original led obviously is much simplier, and tx for that) because in the picture you have the diode first and the resistor last, but 2 pictures below (cartoonish) you have the diode in the middle ..im just confused friend…it is the same? could you please tell me more detailed how to set up this little motherboard, sorry man seriously, i said previously that you were my hero …well if you teach me this you will be a God..lol cheers

  6. i finally finished this mod, and i do have a problem that is the light is on all the time no matter what, the true bypass works like a charm but due the fact that the led is on all the time it will be a little tricky to know when the effect is on or off when i play life, any ideas??
